What to wear for comfort?
Multi-layer system :
Base layer: Start with a moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat away from your skin and keep you comfortable.
Insulating layer : Depending on the weather, add an insulating layer to retain body heat. This can be a fleece or a lightweight jacket.
Outer layer: A waterproof and windproof outer layer is essential, especially if you're walking in variable weather conditions.
Convertible pants: Consider convertible pants that can be adjusted according to temperature. These pants often feature a ventilation zipper or can be converted into shorts.
Gloves and hat: in cool weather, pack gloves and a hat to keep warm. Obviously, with our cold and changeable climates, you need to adapt to each outing.
When Nordic walking, you need to take into account a temperature rise of around 10 degrees. For example, if it's 0 outside, the walker will feel as if it's 10 degrees and will need to dress accordingly.
In the video below, Marie-Claude and Danielle explain the basics of dressing for comfort.
